Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists (TBVS) is a veterinary specialty hospital dedicated to providing advanced medical and surgical treatments for our animal patients. From our start in 1992, we have grown to include board certified specialists in surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology and dentistry. TBVS was the first established veterinary referral center on Florida’s Gulf coast, and we continue to provide the very best in specialized referral services for the entire veterinary community. TBVS acts in partnership with primary care veterinarians to provide pets with the state-of-the-art 24-hour critical care. Appointments The specialty groups see referral cases Monday – Friday (8:30am – 5pm) by appointment only. Dentistry, Ophthalmology, and Surgery: (727) 535-3500 Dermatology, Internal Medicine: (727) 535-3600 Fax number: (727) 539-7865 Our receptionists can provide basic cost estimates. Due to the complex nature of some cases, you may have to consult with a doctor for a detailed estimate. Payment is due at the time of service in our facility. Cash, personal checks and credit cards (Visa/MasterCard/American Express) are accepted forms of payment. We are not able to extend credit to our clients; however, qualified clients can use the Care Credit program. The Emergency department receives cases on a first come, first served, triage system. Hours of operation are Monday – Sunday and 24-hour emergency service on holidays. The Emergency service can be reached at (727) 531-5752. Emergency Scheduling With The Specialists Certain cases require urgent medical or surgical evaluation. We always try to work daytime emergency cases into our receiving schedules whenever possible. However, our caseloads are high and there may not be an available appointment. Therefore, we ask that a veterinarian always call first and inform our receptionists that they have a case that requires urgent evaluation. If possible, we will arrange for the case to be seen that day by an attending specialist. If we are unable to see the case, we may arrange admission through our emergency service or we will suggest other area specialists that may be able to evaluate the case sooner. The emergency service is able to receive patients on a 24-hour basis. New Patient Information Please provide the client with any pertinent records, lab work, radiographs, etc., so they can be evaluated with the patient at the time of initial presentation. Information can also be faxed directly to our reception desk (727) 539-7865 at any time.
